Your Future
Airlines, air transport operators, the aerospace industry sector and the Republic of Singapore Air Force are the main employers of aeronautical engineering graduates.
By virtue of their training, aeronautical engineering technologists can expect to be involved in jobs in the areas of design and development for aircraft modification, prototype and production testing, aircraft maintenance, quality control, material requirements planning and the supervision of workers.
After working for a few years, some graduates may attain supervisory or higher positions. With the continuing expansion of the aerospace industry sector in Singapore, further job opportunities will be available to aeronautical engineering technologists.
As the Diploma in Aeronautical course curriculum and training are fully aligned to Singapore Airworthiness Requirements, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will allow you to sit for its SAR 66 Basic Examinations for the Licensing of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers while still a student. No Polytechnic Course is currently granted exemptions under SAR 66.
#2 Diploma in Engineering with Business Management (DEB) JAE Code: S42
Jointly offered by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of
Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering and School of Business.
Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering and School of Business.
Engineering? Or Business?
You have a passion for Engineering and would like a foundation in Business. Should you choose an Engineering course or a Business course? Why not have BOTH ? We have the perfect solution for you: the Diploma in Engineering with Business.
The Diploma in Engineering with Business is a multi-disciplinary course that:
- Equips you with the knowledge and skills in engineering principles, enabling technologies and business fundamentals.
- Develops the entrepreneurial mindset in you.
- Includes a one-semester internship or overseas immersion programme.
- Offers an opportunity to take a Diploma-Plus programme which will give you an extra edge in your career or a headstart in your further studies.
- Provides the flexibility to pursue a degree in engineering or business.
Employers are now looking for graduates who are technically competent, and with business knowledge in marketing, sales, project management and business development. In a speech at The Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 award presentation ceremony, Mr Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Defence said, "The popular debate over whether an education in the humanities or in science and technology is more useful, presents a false choice. An educated person should have grounding in both. He should understand technologies that drive human progress and the broader societal context in which those technologies are applied.'
Our courses are flexible:You can take up the Diploma Plus Programme, which will give you an extra edge in your career or a headstart in your further studies. The Diploma Plus Program is in addition to your diploma course.
Course Structure
You will gain knowledge and skills in engineering principles, technologies and business fundamentals with a strong grounding in Maths and communication skills. You will be versatile to pursue rewarding careers in engineering and business sectors. In the final year, you will be able to participate in an internship/overseas immersion programme.
